For me, the hardest part of trying new things is balancing perfection (or how I want/expect something to turn out) vs what I actually have to “turn in” when I’m done. (When I was a kid I wouldn’t turn in projects if my paper got wrinkled 🥴) I’m hoping the ten minute timer helps me here! The right supplies will also help.
Suggestions on pens, coloring tools, or other things I can buy when I hit the local art store this weekend?
A pencil and copy paper will do to start. So will a ballpoint pen and lined paper. Crayons, watercolors, oils, pastels, markers, digital - anything works. I bought a fountain pen and I adore it. Start with something at the art store that catches your eye. We’ll be doing all sorts of things this month and how you do it doesn’t matter. No rules in art, as Wendy says.

P.S. I gifted a subscription to my mom, too!

Thank you, Kathleen!
