Super interesting! Thanks Wendy for the step by step.

Have been dreaming about creating a studio for myself - so the timing couldn’t be better!

Thank you Anne for creating a way we can get in contact with each other and meet up!

Thank you, Wendy! Reading all you’re cooking up in the coming weeks has me giddy. And it’s kind of you to drop the paywall this month. So many folks could benefit from this creative community. Sharing now. Thanks for the spreadsheet, Anne! 👏🖌️❤️

Hello GUT Community! It’s my first visit here, although I’ve followed you, Wendy, since this all started back in 2020, and actually before that with the cookbook and How to Say Goodbye. I love art of all kinds but cannot even draw a stick figure. So nice of you to make it free for us to try out. I’m so inspired I’m already planning to pay up! Yay!

P.S. What does GUT stand for?

My dream studio has a roof (I fudged that in) and a lighthouse-shaped outbuilding which means CURVED rooflines? How???

such a good question, and I think it's 3 point where we learn about curves. So for the purpose of this assignment and your dream studio, I'd say the best drawing technique to use would be what I call "mess around and make it up." :)

That is exactly what is happening! (much laughing)

I know it's a lot! Ad once you grab a ruler and pencil and start drawing, you'll get the hang of it super fast and a whole new world unlocks. IT's super fun!! I bet you're going to love it.

Wendy, you are epic! Also, Anne and Jenny. I've been MIA here lately, (life!) but every time I jump back in I'm inspired. Thank you!

So excited for the SF GUT getting together in person! Hopefully we can do something similar in the middle of the country.

As for this week's assignment, my dream studio would be in Vernazza, Italy but I am flying to Costa Rica tomorrow for work so maybe after this week - the dream studio may be a mix of Vernaza and Italy - TBD!

Wendy - that Fablemans video was AMAZING and I watched it TEN TIMES! I was learning perspective in another class and it gives so many people (including me) trouble. I needed that laugh and I shared the video. And it helps that David Lynch is my favorite creator of all time. I am just over the moon. And I won’t forget how to make drawings more interesting 🤣

This lesson was awesome.

thanks Ryan..I did get there with your link. I think I get it now..I need to link with whatever Wendy opens in a chat when she posts a lesson...The substack page just seems to get me followers that want to sell me something!

Ohh yes beware the sales pitch. Glad you were able to find it eventually. Happy drawing!

ok..I'm not a total luddite but sometimes I link to the drawings of others but sometimes I just go back to the lesson..I have a mac desktop and an Ipad. I too believe drawing in isolation might work for outsider artists but not most people...help me hook up please

Or if you navigate to your main Substack page (with other newsletters , etc) you should see two talk bubbles at the bottom of the page. Click there.

Okay, hope I didn’t make this more confusing.

Hi Marilyn - did you find the chat for the week? This is the newsletter post with the assignment. Then Wendy starts another chat for posting your work. I’ll try posting that as a link to see if it works.
