Tech issues this AM! Working on it! Stay tuned :)

Wasn’t a complaint! More of an excitement over how it’s fun to have something I look forward to so much + so often! :)

This is exactly what i needed! Thanks!

I was having trouble turning off notifications - the constant pinging was driving me batty. I took the advice to directly contact Substack (support@substack.com) and they got back to me within the minute this morning at 10:30 am. I was amazed and was given customized service re: what I had done already and the next step needed to turn off notications (FYI needs to be done both within the Substack app under Notications AND ! on my iphone's settings under Notifications. But you all probably already knew that.) Take-away - Substack support was great.

Thank you -k and K. I don’t use a computer 😱 but I’ll see if I can find a similar process on iPhone or iPad. (Or did I miss something? I’m not very tech savvy.)

I love the Draw Together experience so far but the challenge of connecting with others via responses to specific drawings is making potential connections rare.

Tim, it ain’t you. I use an iPad and iPhone too. Sometimes I just tap or double-tap or long tap or shake the phone and mutter curses until something happens. In the FAQ there’s a link to Substack’s help page for chat. It has more info on how to reply to other people.

I know just what you mean, Tim. This is such a dynamic and encouraging cohort that you (one, i suppose) just wants to participate as much as possible. Unfortunately, the tech situation makes that very hard. I hope you can get sorted out with the mobile app soonest. Sending good luck and good vibes! -karen.

Let us know if you still have trouble with this.

I missed the start :-( Can I subscribe later and do the 30 days in March? Or is another one planned?

Expand full comment

Hi Jrene, You can start any time and do the 30 days any time. As a paid subscriber, you have access to all Wendy’s posts back to the beginning of (substack) time. Wendy has said that there will be another 30 day sometime in the future.

How to send a suggestion for a lesson? Apol’s if it's already a faq!

Expand full comment

You can add it as a comment on one of the posts.

I only just joined. I suppose I should start at the beginning?

Sorry I didn’t see this earlier, Elizabeth. You can jump in anywhere, but each day builds on the previous ones, so IMNSHO it’s best to start at the beginning. You can post your drawings to the chat thread for each day. Just scroll up from the latest thread to find the relevant day.

The browser search is a good method, but ‘hey there @substack developers’ this is a thing to add to your app-- !!!

Thank you for checking into it Ms. Art Auntie😀

Amen to that.

This FAQ is good! One issue, I was struggling with was how to find a particular person’s drawing in the chat. My daughter & I signed up to do Wendy’s Drawing together, together. After a few days of just sharing or work via text messages we determined that we could proactively tag ea other in a comment on our own drawing, and it would send us a notification that brings us to the drawing.

But let’s say I have scanned through the 100s of fantastic images and see something I liked, click on that artist’s profile. If follow them hoping to find something they post, it does not give a notification. Does anyone understand what I’m saying & have a solution?

Expand full comment

As far as I’ve been able to tell, the follow feature only means you follow their in the notes or Substack, not for anything they post in a chat. I can’t do a search in the chat in the app, but I just tried it in a browser. Safari and Firefox can find names/words in the chat, but only safari, after some going back and forth, actually took me to the spot where the name appeared. Good on you for using the tagging to find each other.

I should say I’m on an iPad Pro, and because that’s “mobile” the browsers are a stripped down app. A little more robust than iOS though.

When I'm logged into the prompt drop page it's soooo slow and only lets me type one letter (wait), then another (wait some more), etc. It's not doing it here for some reason. It's also hard to scroll through to look at everyone's artwork. Lots of delays. Anyone having the same problem? I'm using FIrefox. Thanks for your advice!

Expand full comment

I’m not sure what you mean by prompt drop page. Do you mean you’re trying to post your work in the chat and it’s taking forever? In my experience any browser is pretty clunky. It seems like you have to wait a couple of minutes for all the other posts to load in the background. For GUT’s purposes the Substack app works the best. Could you post your work using the app on your phone and do everything else on the browser?

Expand full comment

Yes- I mean posting in the chat. The browser is where everything is getting so tied up it's hard to even scroll through to see all the art and be able to easily comment. Is this a tech thing that Substack can address? My phone is small for posting and writing...

I'm having the same problem both on my desktop and in the app. It's very frustrating trying to view other people's work because as I scroll through there is a lot of delay and then the feed jumps ahead so I'm missing posts. This exercise was supposed to help me relax but using substack is just very frustrating.

I’m with you. I would like to scroll through and reply to others more but it’s so clunky I don’t have the patience to wait and wait and wait

My gut instinct (not GUT) is that it’s a Firefox issue more than Substack. But it’s worth contacting Substack about it because it’s probably been seen before. If you do write to support@substack.com, please also cc community@drawtogether.studio so we can keep up with it.

I hear you about posting via phone. One workaround in the meantime is to send the text for your post to yourself via email, then on your phone copy and paste from your mail into the app.

I'll contact them soon and CC community. I'm pretty dedicated to the whole concept of Firefox so hope there's a solution. :-)

I came across this article on artists who create one new thing every day and thought it might be worth sharing!

The columns could be: Name and Date of GUT Post, Site Description, Site Name, Site Link, GUT Member who posted it

Let me see what the boss thinks. But I really like your idea.

Again this morning I found another gem of some amazing art and a link to a website that a GUT member had posted in their comments with their daily post. I was wondering if all those gems could be put in one place once people post them. With so many posts every day I don’t get through them all, which makes me sad I may be missing something else amazing. Maybe Substack can help locate all the links and then they could be put in a tidy holding place? Thank you for all you are doing for us Wendy and Art Auntie Kathleen!

Great idea. Would you like to start a google spreadsheet to do that? That others can add to.

Expand full comment

Do you think it would good to add a tab in the spreadsheet that was created for the inspirational artists list? Maybe change the name of the document to GUT Goodies or something and then we can add more tabs if a new subject comes up?

To get back to earlier days' Chat / Gallery, i find that i have to click on my acct icon > Activity > select a comment made on my picture for that day > click on the comment, and then work my way back to the thread from there. Is this really the easiest way to view earlier days' Gallery postings? Say it isn't so! -karen.

I haven’t figured out any other way yet. There’s no search in Substack that I’ve found other than for people or posts. Maybe it’s on their list of things to do.

Okey-dokey - at least we've figured out one way to accomplish this. Hope a great day at your end!

Can’t seem to find the drawings I’ve posted... 🤔

Within the Chat / Gallery forum, i can (on a Mac) hit Command+F to pop open a little search field at the bottom of my browser page. Type in your profile name, hit enter, and you should have results available to you. [I am currently using Firefox, but the same process works in Safari and Opera.]

It’s not easy, especially with as many posts as we’ve been getting in the Chat, to find your drawings again. As far as I know you just have to scroll through.
