Hi all!! SO HAPPY YOU’RE HERE. Jumping in about timing of prompts: I plan on sending them by 7amPST/10amEST everyday. And I will do my best to stick to that. We have people around the world drawing together so it’s hard to choose a time but I hope that works for everyone. If I’m a bit late at anytime I apologize in advance. I am a very human artist, who is VERY excited to draw with you all starting tomorrow.
I hope it's ok that I'm bringing this to the comments. Inclusion is super important to me. If anyone feels overwhelmed by the big group chat, or wants an accountability partner please feel free to message me. I'm very anxiety/over thinking friendly. I don't want anyone to feel left out of the community just because of the social/technical aspect.
Hooray! Thanks for bringing this up. The chat will likely be big and fun, and if anyone prefers small and fun, accountability partners and small groups are SUCH a great way to go. Kathleen, can we start a spreadsheet for folks to find one another?
To add to my survey: another reason for this endeavor, outside of carving out a space to play and seek joy, is the desire to pay BETTER attention -- to really slow down and notice. I think this will make me a better human.
I like it ...it's like the practice of close observation...that's what a creative writing teacher I work with always references. It's cumulative, your world gets bigger.
As a somewhat "quiet" member of this lovely community, I am setting intention to become more visible, audible?, maybe readable is the right word?! I enjoyed choosing a sketchbook this morning and sketching and painting a front piece to help launch me. Feeling inspired!
New Auntie here: Work is shared in the Chat. That’s a separate space from these posts and comments. Look for the double text bubbles icon. Wendy will start a new chat each week. Let me know if you have trouble figuring it out.
Email me at GUTdraw@sonic.net and tell me what specifically you need help with - finding the Chat icon, difference between Chat and Comments and Replies, what do with a blank page, what happens next ... I’ll be glad to help.
Glad to be here . Jumped in as a way of helping me get unstuck . Making a commitment to myself and my creativity . Looking forward to being a part of the community and also seeing what doors open up ! 🤞🏼💡

I am beyond in orbit over this! How lovely to be led into this 30 day programme by Wendy and to be with all you other lovely people whoever and wherever you are. Aren't we lucky! Still to chose a pad but I have my pencils sharpened...got a Blackwing and he is mighty velvety. Anyone else doing pencils only? So excited to see what hits my inbox as the FIRST prompt on New Years Day. It will be a fab and motivating event I am sure.
Wendy will send an email newsletter / put up a post probably in the morning US Pacific time on Monday Jan 1. In the newsletter will be instructions for the week. Might be Jan 2 for the other side of the globe. Let me know if you have any trouble after you get the newsletter.
Excited to be here for day 2! And I’m wondering if the posts can be scheduled to go out earlier 😬? I understand if not if they’re posted in real time. But if so, being in a later time zone, I’d super appreciate it because I like draw in the morning. 🫶🏽
Annie--I’m an East coaster and hoping for the same thing😅. Would love to make a first thing in the morning habit. I was thinking we COULD wait until the following morning but then would be a day behind. But that’s an option
Hi Deena and Annie - I am a west coaster! It's tough. I can schedule them for early in the AM, but the chat has to be posted in real time, so there is no way I can do it so early (and it is confusing for people if they don't go up at the same time.) We have GUT members around the world, so I'm doing my best to find a middle ground. I think 7am/10am is the best we can do, and if I can do earlier, I will! Sound good?
Totally! It’s so nice there are so many people doing this around the world! I think I’ll do mine one day behind so I can be a “first thing in the morning” person. Thanks for creating this!
Hello, Pamala Dean, here. I filled out my survey and created my cover. My purpose maybe a bit unusual, but I am hoping it meets my goal. I have chronic conditions that limit my energy and mobility. In the process of pushing too hard to get my accounting completed, I flared up my neck, shoulder, arm and hand requiring severe limited pacing. I am not good at pacing. Not wanting my art practice to fall completely apart, I am attempting to follow the recommended “only 10 minutes a day.” I decided to do Wendy McNaughten’s GUT 30 day drawing challenge, 10 minutes a day. Excited to begin.
Boy do I need some support from a group! Yep, feeling too isolated in my art practice these days. My best time to do the exercises is first thing in the morning. So this means that I'll probably do each one a day late just because of the time zone I live in.

Thank you!! So excited.
I'll use my own blood if I have to! hehe! ;)
NEKO! Can’t wait to draw with you. ❤️
I'm sorry but the actual Neko Case is in our group. I know what music I'll be listening to as I draw the first day or so! I'm so excited.
Wow so excited to be in company with an amazing artist 💕

Can do! Will start looking into that today. What a great idea, Brittany.
Oh a partner might be very helpful. Count me in. It may just be more practical with time zone differences.
Would love to be included in a smaller group!
Feeling a bit overwhelmed and at sea in all this.
Thank you 🙏🏻
I might like this as well. But I might like both. I don't know!! The time zone comment Annie made makes sense.
To add to my survey: another reason for this endeavor, outside of carving out a space to play and seek joy, is the desire to pay BETTER attention -- to really slow down and notice. I think this will make me a better human.
Totally agree Katherine - I am noticing that noticing through my day takes me into deeper being - love it:)
DEEPER BEING. Thank you for this.
My pleasure - whereabouts are you Katherine? I am in Wales, UK.
Mount Desert Island, US. Happy New Year!
I envy your surroundings! Love Maine.
Aha! So you're an Islander then Katherine. What a beautiful place - Acadia park I see. I imagine living there is the source of inspiration:)
I like it ...it's like the practice of close observation...that's what a creative writing teacher I work with always references. It's cumulative, your world gets bigger.
YES! Learning to pay attention, learning to be astonished. The intimate and micro lead to expansion of perspective. I love that! Thank you.
That is such a good point and I totally agree. I love slowing down and noticing. It makes you appreciate life.
OMG I literally squealed "yay" when I read that Katjleen is our art auntie! She's such a gem!! Thanks Kathleen and Wendy! Can't wait to get started.
Huzzah!!!! She’s the best, right!! Thanks for being such a positive GUT force Isabelle!!
Oh Isabelle, you made me blush in the privacy of my own home. Thanks.
Kathleen - I sent a gift for a month to a friend - hope she hears from you soon. She’s excited!!
Cindy, your friend should get a welcome email. If not then email me! Welcome to your fried!
If you are subscribed it will come to you in your email; then follow the comments section.
😍😍😍
We gotta make you a shirt, Kathleen!
LOL!
Agreed!

Where do we go if we want to share work?

Yes, I'm brand new to this wonderful community and I could use some guidance. Thanks for offering.
Email me at GUTdraw@sonic.net and tell me what specifically you need help with - finding the Chat icon, difference between Chat and Comments and Replies, what do with a blank page, what happens next ... I’ll be glad to help.
I don't see the double text bubbles. I think I uploaded my first drawing as a comment but don't even know how to find it? Thanks!
Are you using the app or the web?
I had the same question!
Hi folks. Wendy will post a chat thread at the start of each week where we can share. :)
Glad to be here . Jumped in as a way of helping me get unstuck . Making a commitment to myself and my creativity . Looking forward to being a part of the community and also seeing what doors open up ! 🤞🏼💡

I'm in the same boat, Stacie!

Hi! Little hint: you might want to grab some COLORED pencils for day 2 :)
I can do that :))
Happy New Year gang! See you in 2024! 🎉🙌💥❤️
Help! What time does this start on Jan 1 and what link do you use??
I had a same question about communications of prompts etc and time zone, just so I can plan my drawing time 🙂
Hi Hannah, Wendy just answered that more fully in a following comment.
Yes, I saw - thank you both!
Wendy will send an email newsletter / put up a post probably in the morning US Pacific time on Monday Jan 1. In the newsletter will be instructions for the week. Might be Jan 2 for the other side of the globe. Let me know if you have any trouble after you get the newsletter.
are we getting another art prompt
today? or do we simply draw whatever we feel for 10 mins each day?
Did you receive your prompt?
