We just did this first podcast in my 3rd grade class. One student commented after that she had walked in feeling sad that she had missed many days of school and was missing her friends, but that after doing the drawings she felt so much better! Thanks so much for creating and sharing this experience with us.
More! More! More! I felt scattered and edgy when I sat down. After, I felt much calmer. Duh! But, it was an excellent reminder of why draw. When I was an elementary school teacher, I would have students draw immediately after coming in from recess! This helped everyone calm down. Sadly, administrators did not see the value of this practice and told me to stop. So, I hope that somehow this message gets to more educators and administrators.
Yup- this, like everything you do is spot on! I’m an art therapist and I’ve ear marked this to share with my clients for self-care outside of our sessions for when they are feeling stuck!.
