Four Sundays October 5, 12, 19 & 26 11am-12pm: The class was designed for anyone interested in learning how to experiment with color in new ways, structured to convey the basics of color theory through hands-on practice, with a sequence of fun, approachable exercises in paint-mixing and collage. In-between art activities, slideshows offer visual examples and information on the biology of color vision, a breakdown of color properties, and the wondrous phenomenon of color relativity, with examples from early color theorists, textiles, folk-art, and work by contemporary artists.By the end of the workshop, everyone will leave with a small set of color charts and collages, and fodder for a lifetime of future experimentation.Open to absolute beginners, practicing artists, designers, and craftspeople alike. Four Sundays October 5, 12, 19 & 26 3:-5:30pm (This class includes an optional additional 1/2 of independent work tie until 6pm each session) This workshop was designed as a “Part 2” for people who have taken the introductory color theory class, or the equivalent, as an opportunity to continue to experiment with a range of nuanced color themes and motifs. During the class, each participant will create a small series of hand-painted cut paper collage studies using unique palettes, color contrasts and color harmonies that emerge from paint-mixing prompts rooted in color theory principals. In addition to the prompts offered, everyone will discover their own library of color references and create related collages based on individual preferences and findings.
