Helllloooo all. I’m interrupting what I hope is a glorious week to try something new.
Sometime around 3rd grade a teacher told me, “When you have a question, be brave and ask it because someone else probably has the same question, too.”
That advice stuck. I think it’s part of the reason I’ve feel emboldened to reach out directly to so-called professionals and experts throughout my life, leading to some really impactful conversations and even friendships.
I get a lot of messages from DrawTogether GUT members about drawing, art supplies, career advice, self-doubt, and more. And while each question is unique to the quester, there are some similar themes. So in the spirit of 3rd grade, I thought I’d open up the phone lines for questions.
In the next couple days, please leave your queries about art, drawing, social practice, art and wellness, careers in art, and anything else you’d like to get a conversation going in the comments below.
If I don’t personally have an A to your Q, I’ll try to find you a decent answer from someone way smarter than me. I’ll respond to them in our regular Sunday dispatch.
Sound good?
Alright, friends. And with that… use the comments below to AMA (as me anything.)
PENCILS UP! xoxo,

ps. a smile for you below. Hit enlarge if you can to read the subtitles of this video by South Korean artist Kim Boom titled “Yellow Scream.” It’s the emo cathartic Bob Ross we all need right now. If you can’t read the subtitles, just listen and watch. I’m sure you’ll get the gist.
A friend said that she never has as much fun doing the art as she does going to the art store 😂 I know buying the same materials as one’s favorite artist is no replacement for doing the work. But I do like to nerd out about pens and pencils etc. so…what are your trusty supplies and what are you experimenting with lately? Thanks! ✒️✏️🎨🖼️
How long did it take you to figure out how to make the Venn diagram of who you are really work for you as an artist? We still seem to live in a world of slick, one style only artists and I sometimes feel like a dust bunny full of random bits.
